Level Ground trades with Coffee Management Services (CMS) in Tanzania. CMS operates the HOPE Organic Project where farmers are paid a fair price for red cherries collected at stations called Central Pulpery Units (CPU). Once collected, CMS then mills, sorts and transports the coffee for export. Final exporting is handled by Schluter Ltd.
One of our objectives is to ensure that the farming community receives a minimum of 65% of the price we pay for coffee. To accomplish this, Level Ground issues a Fair Trade premium to fund healthcare for farmers and their families. Premiums also fund the HOPE Projects' training in organic farming methods as well as soil and shade conservation.
